Low-Cost Production
This single screw extruder machine is specifically designed for small-scale fish feed production. Its low-capacity configuration meets the feed needs of aquaculture farms for their own use while reducing costs. For start-up feed plants, this equipment can help you enter the aquaculture feed market at a low cost.
The single-screw design requires less power and consumes less energy. The feed it produces is highly water-resistant, which helps protect water quality and reduce waste. In particular, floating fish feed can remain on the water’s surface for 12 hours without disintegrating. Feed extruded under high-temperature conditions is easier to digest and absorb.
Unlike wet-process fish feed extruders, this dry type fish feed extruder does not require an external steam supply. It is compatible with most aquafeed formulations and produces standardized pellets. Additionally, we offer twin screw fish feed extruder to meet the demand for high-capacity, high-quality feed production.

Single Screw
Both the screw sleeve and the screw are made of alloy steel. They offer superior wear resistance and high-temperature resistance, ensuring a long service life. The resulting feed pellets have a uniform texture, stable structure, and good water resistance.

Cutting Device
This component features an internationally advanced pellet cutting design. It utilizes a soft-blade contact mechanism and stepless speed control, allowing you to produce fish feed pellets of any length. It also ensures a smooth pellet surface with minimal burrs.

Low Production Costs
The greatest advantage of the dry type fish feed extruder lies in its low production costs. It features a simple structural design and does not require a steam boiler. As a result, it can help you reduce some of your capital expenditures. For start-up feed plants and small-scale aquaculture farms, this equipment is the best solution for those on a tight budget.
Stable Output
Water resistance and structural stability are critical for fish feed. This device employs an advanced extrusion system and cutting mechanism to consistently produce high-quality fish feed with excellent water resistance. These pellets undergo high-temperature conditioning, making them easier to digest and absorb, thereby improving feeding performance.

Dry fish feed extrusion process
The extruder production process consists of four main stages: feeding, raw material expansion, extrusion molding, and cutting. The video below shows the dry type fish feed extruder in trial operation during an actual project. The freshly produced pellets are hot and have a soft, moist texture. If you require further cooling, screening, and packaging, we can provide corresponding equipment solutions.

01
Raw Material feeding
The raw materials fed into the extruder should be uniformly mixed powdered materials. They are smoothly fed into the extrusion chamber via the feed screw.
02
Raw Material Conditioning
At this stage, the material is further mixed as it is propelled by the screw. Under high-temperature compression and shear forces, they undergoes conditioning and expansion.
03
Pellet Formation
The conditioned material is pushed into the die. It passes through the die’s orifices to produce feed pellets of uniform diameter. Die sizes are selectable.
04
Finished Product Cutting
Rotating cutting blades cut the formed feed into pellets of uniform length. The cut surfaces are smooth and even. The cutting length is adjustable.
Feed Types Suitable for Dry Extruders
This extruder is capable of producing most types of fish feed. It can accommodate various feed formulations to produce both floating and sinking feeds, meeting the feeding needs of fish in different water layers. Additionally, the die and parameters can be adjusted to produce pellets of different sizes.

Floating Fish Feed (0.8–8.0 mm)
This is the most commonly produced feed type using a dry type fish feed extruder. Its high expansion effect ensures the feed remains afloat for up to 12 hours, reducing waste. This feed type is suitable for common fish species such as tilapia, carp, and catfish.

Sinking Fish Feed (1.5–8.0 mm)
It can also produce high-density sinking pellets. This is achieved by adjusting the feed formulation, die size, and extruder parameters. These pellets sink rapidly and exhibit high water resistance, making them suitable for fish feeding in the middle and lower water layers.

Ornamental Fish Feed (0.5–2.0 mm)
Many ornamental fish are typically small in size and have specific requirements regarding feed palatability and size. Examples include goldfish, koi, and tropical fish. You can achieve specific feed pellet sizes by changing the mold and adjusting the cutting parameters.

Fry Feed Pellets (0.3–1.5 mm)
This is a finely processed feed. Produced through high-temperature extrusion, it is easier to digest and absorb, promoting the survival and growth of young fish. For smaller-sized fish feed, we can provide a crusher to produce crushed feed ranging from 0.3 to 1.2 mm.

–
What is the difference between a dry type fish feed extruder and a wet type fish feed extruder?
Although both are single-screw extruders, there are significant differences in their production methods. Dry-type extruders generate heat through screw friction to condition, expand, and extrude the material. This process does not require the addition of external steam. As a result, production costs are low, making it suitable for small-scale, routine production.
Wet-type extruders require a steam boiler to provide steam for material conditioning. This enhances production capacity and pellet quality. They are suitable for higher-quality fish feed requirements and commercial-scale production.
–
What raw materials can the dry fish feed making machine process?
This extruder is a versatile aquafeed processing machine. It can process most fish feed raw materials and accommodate various feed formulations, including common ingredients such as fish meal, corn meal, soybean meal, and wheat bran. You can adjust the raw material ratios as needed. It is important to note that these raw materials should be maintained at appropriate moisture levels and particle sizes to ensure optimal pellet quality.
–
How to produce fish feed pellets of different sizes?
Our extruder allows for the replacement of dies with different hole diameters. These dies range from 0.6 to 8.0 mm and above. For diverse feed requirements, we recommend configuring multiple sets of dies. If you need to produce fish feed of varying lengths, you can adjust the parameters of the cutting device. This extruder features stepless speed-adjustable cutting, capable of producing feed of any length while ensuring clean, smooth cuts.
–
How to select the right dry type fish feed extruder?
You can determine the production capacity range based on your daily feed requirements, thereby setting your hourly production target. This is the most straightforward selection method. We offer dry-process extruder models with capacities ranging from 0.2 to 1.0 T/H.
These are suitable for small-scale aquaculture farms, small fish feed plants, and similar operations. For specialized production needs, we also provide customized solutions. Alternatively, you can share your production requirements with us to receive the most suitable equipment recommendation.
